Midweek hike with the family
I know that's what I'm all about.
And YES, you can build a business that doesn't consume your life and instead allows you to have some time to actually enjoy it.
How can you do that?
Let me start off by sharing the best way to leverage the internet to attract high paying, quality customers on auto-pilot, so you can make more money in less time.
If you've spent any time thinking about this, you probably have all kinds of questions like...
Should you create a facebook account? Should you start paying for
Angie's List? Should you buy ad placement with Google?
How about Instagram?
How do you know which will get the best results?
Here's the deal. There are 7 main ways to attract customers online:
- PPC (Pay Per Click - basically, paying google to show up in search)
- Facebook Ads
- Social Media
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- Online Directories (Website like Angie's List and Yelp)
- Paying for Leads
- Craigslist
Now, I could go on and on about the pros and cons of each, and create some elaborate explanation of which one is best and why.
Or...I could just tell you the answer and save us both some time. You see, I've tried every single one of these and spent thousands testing them.
And the best one, hands down, without question, is SEO (a.k.a. Search Engine Optimization).
If you don't know what SEO is, that's ok. It's simply the practice of getting your website to show up in search engines when somebody is looking for your services.
Google is by far the most popular search engine, which is why some people say SEO is a matter of "showing up in Google."
Here's why this should be a major part of your marketing:
- It's Low Cost - In fact, once you set it up, it costs almost nothing outside of the small cost to keep a website up and running (about $200/year).
- It's Hand-off - When you do SEO right, which is surprisingly counter-intuitive, it will continue to bring you leads year after year WITHOUT continued effort or time. That means you do it once and then step back and let the leads come in.
- It's Scalable - There is no limit to how much traffic and leads you can generate. Want more customers? Create more SEO content on your website. Once you have enough leads to keep your schedule filled consistently you can stop and let it sit on auto-pilot. That makes it perfect for the one-man handyman business or the contractor with 6 crews.
- You Control It - Don't make the mistake of putting your eggs into one marketing basket that you don't even own (like Facebook or Yelp for example.) You don't control these platforms and all it takes is one small change and your leads can disappear overnight. But when it comes to SEO it's all on your website that you control.
- It's Highly Targeted - With good SEO, you can attract customers for ONLY your most profitable jobs. Or, it allows to to target specific customers with laser precision so you're only getting calls from qualified clients.
- It works everywhere - whether you live in a small town or a highly competitive big city, good SEO will always work.
How Can you Get Started?
Here's where it's easy to get tripped up. Many people come to me saying "But Dan, I don't even know how to build a website, let alone optimize it for SEO."
And that's OK! Neither did I when I started my business.
But, unlike me, you're not going to have to spend hundreds of hours to figure it all out for yourself - because I've got your back.
Plus, building a website is actually super easy and so is SEO if you have a proven system to follow. You don't need any technical skills, and you certainly don't need to know how to code or anything crazy like that.
Trust me when I say - ANYONE CAN DO THIS.
For now, let's just take it one step at a time.
And let's celebrate because you've already learned more in this one e-mail than from months of reading blog posts and searching for information.
Just know one thing. You CAN build a website that attracts high paying customers and keeps your schedule filled with high paying jobs.
Just take a look at what one of my recent students wrote...
